Maple Bacon Scones are delightful treats combining sweet maple syrup and savory bacon. With an easy preparation method and simple ingredients, these scones are perfect for breakfast or a snack that brings a touch of sweetness and comfort to your day.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 8 scones 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 12 tbsp cold butter grated
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cooked bacon crumbled
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • course sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350℉.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Grate the cold butter using a cheese grater and mix it with the dry ingredients using your hands until the mixture is crumbly.
  4. Make a well in the center of the mixture and add the egg, maple syrup, and buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the crumbled bacon until the dough is slightly sticky to the touch.
  6. Transfer the mixture onto a floured surface and shape it into a circle. Cut into 6-8 scones as you would a pizza and arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Brush the tops with heavy cream, sprinkle with coarse sugar, and bake for 20-25 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Prepare the maple glaze by mixing the glaze ingredients in a small bowl, adjusting with more maple syrup if needed, and drizzle over the slightly cooled scones.
