- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, preferably 80/20
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices pepper jack cheese
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1/2 cup homemade pineapple cowgirl candy, or more as desired
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 tablespoon butter or oil, optional, for grilling onions
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently shape them into burger patties.
- Season both sides of the patties with salt and pepper.
- Grill the sliced onions until tender and lightly charred, then remove and set aside.
- Grill the burger patties for about 4–5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
- During the last 1–2 minutes of cooking, place a slice of pepper jack cheese on each burger and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.
- Toast the hamburger buns cut-side down on the grill for 1–2 minutes.
- Assemble each burger on a toasted bun, adding lettuce, sliced tomato, grilled onions, and a spoonful of Pineapple Cowgirl Candy.
- Add the top bun and serve immediately.
