Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion diced
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • ½ cup loosely packed fresh cilantro leaves
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup cream cheese
  • 2 tsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • chopped green onions for garnishing
  • pita chips tortilla chips, corn chips and/or veggies, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the diced onions and sauté for 6-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  4. Transfer the onion and garlic mixture to a food processor and add the remaining ingredients.
  5. Pulse until the mixture is smooth.
  6. Spoon the mixture into a serving bowl and garnish with chopped green onions.
