  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • salt to taste
  • ice water

Instructions

  1. Peel the potatoes.
  2. Slice them into ¼-inch thick slices.
  3. Cut the slices into fries that are about ¼-inch wide.
  4. Soak the fries in ice water for about 30 minutes to help them crisp up during frying.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 325°F (160°C).
  6. Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5 to 7 minutes per batch.
  7. Remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Drizzle with corn syrup and sprinkle with salt to taste.
