Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ cups unsalted butter room temperature
  • ¾ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs room temperature
  • 3¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup + 3 tbsp heavy whipping cream divided
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 oz. semisweet chocolate melted
  • 3 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chopped
  • ⅓ cup heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ cup chopped peanuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F.
  2. Using an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream butter, peanut butter, and sugar together until light and fluffy (3-4 minutes on medium speed).
  3. Add eggs two at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Add half of the flour to the bowl; mix until well combined.
  5. Add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream; mix until well combined.
  6. Add remaining flour, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
  7. Scrape sides and bottom of the bowl to ensure batter is well combined.
  8. Using a medium bowl, reserve 3 cups of batter.
  9. To the reserved batter, add cocoa powder and remaining 3 Tbsp heavy whipping cream; stir until well combined.

  13. Bake for 60 minutes. Tent top of cake with foil and continue baking for 55-60 more minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  14. Let cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes before inverting onto a wire baking rack; let cool completely.
