  • Total Time: 6 hours 58 minutes
  • Yield: 16 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag frozen parkerhouse style roll dough, i used bridgford
  • 6 low-moisture mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Thaw the frozen dinner rolls overnight in the refrigerator or for 4 hours at room temperature. You will need 16 rolls.
  2. Cut 4 of the mozzarella sticks into 4 equal pieces, resulting in 16 pieces.
  3. Take each defrosted dinner roll and encase a piece of mozzarella in it, pinching the edges to seal. Arrange seam-side down in a greased 12-inch cast iron pan.
  4. Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise in a warm place until they have doubled in size, about 60 to 90 minutes.
  5. Cut the remaining 2 mozzarella pieces into 8 parts each. After the rolls have risen, place these pieces between the rolls.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 10 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile, combine butter, minced garlic, garlic salt, and red pepper flakes in a small microwave-safe bowl and microwave until the butter melts.
  8. After 10 minutes, take the rolls out and sprinkle with parmesan cheese and chopped parsley. Drizzle the melted butter mixture over them.
  9. Return the rolls to the oven and bake for an additional 5 to 8 minutes until they are golden brown on top.
