- 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 1/2 cups diced onion
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 1/2 tablespoons italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 15 ounce can tomato sauce
- 1 15 ounce can diced tomatoes
- 2 1/2 cups beef stock
- 1 1/2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Chopped Parsley, optional
Instructions
- In a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked.
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked beef to a bowl, leaving about 2 tablespoons of fat in the pan.
- Add diced onion to the skillet and cook for 5 minutes until softened.
- Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Stir in tomato paste, italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the tomato paste darkens.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet, then add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and beef stock.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then stir in elbow macaroni.
- Cover the skillet and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until the pasta is tender and most liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the lid and stir in shredded cheddar cheese.
- Serve hot, optionally garnished with chopped parsley and parmesan cheese.
