- 32 ounces frozen tater tots
- 16 ounces ham, ¼" dice
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
- ¼ cup sliced green onions
- ¼ cup cornstarch, optional
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika , optional
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 8 large eggs
- 2 ½ cups half-and-half
Instructions
- Preheat the oven by setting the rack to the center position and heating to 350ºF (177ºC). Prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish with oil or cooking spray.
- Spread the frozen tater tots, diced ham, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, and green onions evenly in the baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika (if desired), and black pepper. Then add the eggs and whisk until combined. Stir in the half-and-half and pour the mixture over the ingredients in the baking dish. Top with the remaining 1 cup of cheese.
- Bake the casserole for 45 to 55 minutes, until the center is set and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. The internal temperature should reach 180 to 190ºF (82 to 88ºC). Allow it to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
