- 3 cups of peeled, chopped apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Pinch of salt
- 2 ready-made pie crusts (or you can make your own if you prefer)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon milk
- Candy eyes (or you can use chocolate chips)
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Combine chopped apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, cornstarch, and salt in a bowl and let sit for 10-15 minutes.
- Roll out pie crusts and cut circles.
- Place apple mixture on half of the circles, brush edges with egg wash, and top with remaining circles, sealing with a fork.
- Cut thin strips from leftover crust and create mummy stripes on top, brushing with egg wash.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly, then add candy eyes and powdered sugar if desired.
