Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 clove garlic (minced or pressed)
  • ½ yellow onion (chopped)
  • 8 ounces cremini mushrooms (sliced)
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup white wine
  • 2 ½ cups beef stock
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat in a medium skillet.
  2. Add the garlic and cook for about 1 minute.
  3. Add the onion and cook until translucent, about 4 minutes.
  4. Add the mushrooms and cook until they start to release liquid, about 4 minutes.
  5. Add the flour and stir to incorporate.
  6. Stir in the wine and cook until the wine is reduced, about 4 minutes.
  7. Add the beef stock, and stir frequently until the sauce starts to thicken, about 20 minutes.
  8. Stir in the mustard and Worcestershire sauce.
  9. Season with salt and pepper.
