Instructions

- Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in egg, vanilla, and optional almond extract.
- Gradually combine with dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Divide dough, shape into disks, wrap and chill for at least one hour.
- Roll out dough and cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
- Chill cut shapes briefly before baking.
- Preheat oven to 350°F and bake cookies for 8-10 minutes until golden.
- Cool on a rack and decorate as desired.
