  • 2 cups chicken stock (or chicken broth, or bone broth)
  • 8 cups fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried minced onion
  • ½ teaspoon dried minced garlic
  • â…› teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • â…› teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (use ¼ tsp for more heat)
  • 1 cup leftover ham, diced
  • 1 ham hock (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook bacon in a skillet until crispy.
  • Remove bacon, and sauté onions and bell pepper in the bacon grease until onions are translucent.
  • Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  • Combine green beans and diced ham in the crock pot.
  • Add sautéed vegetables, seasoning, and broth to the pot.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 4 hours.
