  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch (aka cornflour)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 and 1/2 cups (270g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: chocolate buttercream for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare a 9-inch pan with nonstick spray.
  • Cream together the butter and brown sugar until creamy.
  • Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla; mix until combined.
  • Combine flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl; add to the wet mixture.
  • Fold in chocolate chips gently.
  • Press the dough into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 22-26 minutes until golden brown; check for doneness with a toothpick.
  • Let cool completely before transferring or decorating.
