  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • ½ cup raisins or dried cranberries (optional)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Combine warm milk and yeast in a mixing bowl; let sit until frothy.
  • Mix in sugar, softened butter, eggs, and salt; whisk until combined.
  • Gradually add flour, mixing to form a dough. Knead on floured surface for 5-7 minutes.
  • Let the dough rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  • Prepare filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Roll the dough into a rectangle, spread the filling, and roll tightly into a log.
  • Cut the roll into 12 equal pieces. Shape into butterflies and place on a baking sheet.
  • Allow rolls to rise again for 30 minutes.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Create glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.
  • Drizzle glaze over warm rolls after baking.
